Five Feldman Gale Partners Receive Intellectual Property Law Certification From Florida Bar

MIAMI, FL - Five attorneys from the intellectual property boutique firm Feldman Gale P.A. have received Intellectual Property Law Board Certification from The Florida Bar. They are part of the inaugural group of 80 attorneys who received this prestigious certification, and Feldman Gale is one of only four law firms in the state with as many certified attorneys in Intellectual Property Law. Stephanie C. Alvarez, Michael C. Cesarano, James A. Gale, Gregory L. Hillyer, and Samuel A. Lewis were certified.

Florida is the first state that has created Board Certification for intellectual property attorneys. To qualify for certification, applicants must have practiced for at least five years, focus at least 30 percent of their practice in intellectual property matters and complete at least 50 hours of continuing legal education credits in the field. In addition, qualified applicants must receive a satisfactory peer review assessment of competence in the intellectual property law field, as well as character, ethics and professionalism. Finally, applicants must demonstrate that they have practiced intellectual property law for more than 20 years or pass an extensive written examination demonstrating knowledge, skills and proficiency in the area of law. Board certification is valid for five years. Not all qualified lawyers are certified, but those who are board certified have taken the extra step to have their competence and experience recognized.
