Janet T. Munn is an experienced and accomplished litigator with over 23 years of experience in intellectual property and commercial litigation in the areas of class action defense, intellectual property, mass tort and products liability defense, media law, and in domestic and international arbitration. She represents a wide variety of Fortune 500 clients as well as individuals in telecommunications, computer, media, chemical, biomedical, pharmaceutical and the insurance fields.
In the intellectual property area she has handled hundreds of domestic and international contested intellectual property matters and has successfully tried and arbitrated claims involving trademarks, trade secrets, copyrights and patents, claims of unfair competition, false advertising, theft of trade secrets and litigation over non-competition and confidentiality agreements and the infringement of the rights of publicity.
In the area of class actions and other complex commercial litigation she has successfully defended class actions which sought certification of deceptive and unfair trade practices and marketing claims as well as claims for products liability, personal injury medical monitoring, securities violations and violations of the Fair and Accurate Transactions Act (FACTA).
In the area of media law, Ms. Munn has successfully handled numerous access matters on behalf of national broadcast and print media, obtaining access for the media in criminal, civil and juvenile courts; successfully prosecuted Public Records Act cases, including cases seeking records of juveniles; successfully defended media clients seeking to protect the editorial privilege and defended against newsgathering torts, libel and slander claims.
